As in the European Union, the Swiss Confederation also regulates the movement of waste by law.

Waste classified as hazardous waste or other waste subject to control in accordance with the DETEC Ordinance on Lists of Waste Movements is subject to the control procedures of the Ordinance on Waste Movements (VeVA) when it is transferred within Switzerland.
